The President and the whitehouse have lowered their stature by attacking a news agency. Not because they can argue the content, but because they don't like what is reported. I've always respected the media source that looks at our government with a respectful, but skeptical eye. I'm concerned now that some of the mainstream media outlets and cable outlets have shirked that responsibility. I'm not concerned if the press members themselves are liberal or conservative provided they are capable of reporting news while representing multiple perspectives on the story. I think that all news organizations could benefit from independent auditing of their content to determine how they're doing. This has already been done in several instances showing that Fox News IS more fair and balanced. It simply seems further to the right because it's in the middle while the other outlets are moderately to the left.

Certainly if you review Fox's opinion shows, Hannity and Beck are right wing. O'Reilly is more moderate and right. I do like watching O'Reilly because he brings on people from the left and moderates lively discussions. Last night on Afganistan for instance. Even Hannity brings in aggressive liberals to debate him. If you go to MSNBC to watch Oberman..... there is no debate. It's all straight opinion. That gets boring and frankly can cause a person to lose their ability to understand multiple perspectives and realities.

If Ms. Dunn is correct, and the whitehouse has manipulated the media to to present only what they want. (And it looks like they have.) Our democracy is in jeopardy of hearing only what the administration wants reported. I don't care who's in office. That makes me uneasy.
